Rules and Guidelines

Rules and Regulations are strictly enforced.

  • All Comics must be registered students at ANY New Jersey College in order to enter the competition.

  • No duos or group comedians. Individuals only.

  • Latest possible time to register is 5pm on the day of the event.

  • Each comic is allowed 5 minutes per performance. After 5 minutes the comic will be asked to leave the stage. A silent signal will be given to the comic at the 4 minute mark. (* These time limits may be subject to change depending on the amount of comics that register)

  • Each comic will be critiqued at the end of his/her performance by the judges on Originality, Stage Presence, Material and Audience Reaction. 3 finalists from each Qualifying Event will move on to compete in the state finals at Rutgers University on January 29, 2011 where the celebrity judges will crown the "NJ King or Queen of Campus Comedy"

  • All students must abide by their own school's code of conduct, as your school may have additional regulations other than what is listed. These rules pertain to the New Jersey Comedy Festival Only.

  • Any lateness to the event venue by the comic will result in disqualification. (*If lateness or absence is foreseen by comic prior to show time, please alert us immediately and we still may be able to accomodate you).

  • Employees of Sponsors and their families are not eligible to enter or win.
  • Please contact your school with any questions you may have.
